St. Newman believed that in prayer we speak to God heart to heart (in Latin Cor=Heart; Cor ad Cor loquitor = Heart speaks to Heart). His Cor ad Cor spirituality also extends to those we encounter in everyday life - our family, friends, colleagues, students, etc. Following the Sacred Scriptures (e.g., Prvbs, 4:23), our Blessed Mother (Luke 2:19), the Apostles and Fathers down to St. Newman, we believe the heart is the source for all thinking, willing, and feeling.
St. Newman believed the heart to be the place where discernment, decision, belief and action happen. He believed that personal influence, Cor ad Cor, especially of a teacher to student, was the surest way to communicate truth. TNI’s professors follow his way, by accompanying and mentoring students as they grow and mature in their faith and knowledge through individual or small group tutorials and activities.
For those who want to go deeper in IKON learning and to grow spiritually, we offer Cor ad Cor Mentoring. This mentoring creates what we call Cor Knowledge, which includes a personalized approach to learning and wisdom.
Cor ad Cor Mentoring consists of a one hour, weekly scheduled 1 on 1 or small group tutorial with an IKON Professor.
