Online learning (whether virtual face to face like a classroom experience or on a learning platform that has information posted and communication without a face) will continue to grow and be with us for a while.
I am seeing many articles out there that pit one versus another (many times learning platform companies are using articles as advertisements for their services). Which is better doesn't seem like the right question... Both touch on fundamental elements in how humans learn... But they aren't equal either.... Why?
There are many opinions on this, but I am going to put forth that the end of knowing is perfecting the mind - cultivating your ability to know things in particular (terms, concepts, etc.) and the unity that arises from particulars and their relationships (having a vision of the whole).
To achieve this you have to have alone time to master knowledge - reading, remembering, thinking - and you need common time with others - listening, conversing, debating. Sacrifice either and you have an incomplete education. An education cannot be reduced to informatio delivery or retention. You may receive a grade or credential if you acquire enough information, but that is not the same beng educated.
