      Logos, Language, Literature  

      • How does Christ, the Word made Flesh, impact our understanding of language and literature? This course will show how Christ both permeates and transforms the way we understand words and stories.
      • The first part of this course will focus on the Word of God. The second part will focus on language and the Word’s impact on it. The final part will show how the Word is found in stories.  

      Course Schedule and Topics (subject to change):

      Week 1: January 19   Topic: The Logos became Flesh

      Week 2: January 26th   Topic: The Logos in the Creation Story.

      Week 3: February 2nd   Topic: The Logos of Discovering All is Vanity

      Week 4: February 9th    Topic: The Encounter with the Logos

      Week 5: February 16th  Topic: Finding the Logos in All Things. 

      Week 6: March 2nd       Topic:  Human Cognition (Language Origins)

      Week 7: March 9th   Topic:  Logos in Human Civilizations

      Week 8: March 16th   Topic: Loving the Logos (PIE)

      Week 9: March 23rd  Topic: Creating a Lexicon
      
      Week 10: March 30th Topic: The Thanatos Syndrome pt 1.
      
      Week 11: April 13th Topic: The Thanatos Syndrome pt 2.
      
      Week 12: April 20th Topic: The Thanatos Syndrome pt 3.
      
      Week 13: April 27th Topic: The Thanatos Syndrome pt 4.
      
      Week 14: May 4th Topic: The Thanatos Syndrome pt 5.

      • The course will meet Thursdays at Tulane Catholic from 5:00 to 6:30 pm with dinner 
      • We begin January 19 and will meet every week; the course will end May 14.
